In May 1997, Clifton, Texas gained the designation "Norwegian Capital of Texas" by Texas Legislature. The community was known to be the largest Norwegian settlement of Texas in the mid-1800s. Norway is abundant in both culture and folklore, including the Troll.

As you venture around Clifton, you may spot odd little human-like creatures standing in front of different businesses. These are the Uff Da Trolls of Clifton. While they can be mischievous at times, the Uff Da Trolls are generally happy natured and silly. They watch over the town and celebrate the good life.​
